Pressing “send”

Yes! I have finished the thesis and handed it in on the 18th of March, ten days ahead of my submission deadline.

As all my friends who had done it before warned me, yes, there was a huge anti-climax. You wait for this moment with such anticipation, the time comes, you press the button and “send”… it’s done! You did it! You finished and sent a document that represents most of your work (and your life) in the last four years!

Now what?

I was alone at home, husband at work, baby sleeping… and I was so tired that I didn’t even feel the relief straight away.

But it came.

After the “shock” was gone, I woke up my son and hugged him so I much I think h was breathless. We danced together around the house (he’s four months old, and I had sore arms after a few minutes). Phoned Leo, organised to get the friends together at home in the evening, emailed all my friends who were not so close, and yes, finally that heavy weight started lifting off my shoulders.

Next day, after all the champagne, and the headache that comes with it, the penny dropped: I’m on holidays!!

It’s been so long that I’ve had real free time that I don’t really know what to do with myself. As soon as I realised that, got Francisco in the pram and walked to the beach. It was a beautiful day. Yes. That’s the feeling.

But then another penny in a busy mind: What next?

Almost there

I’m about to finish writing my PhD, that’s why this blog has not been updated for so long.

It’s been a very interesting learning journey, and it’s amazing how the “written part of it” cannot get even close to representing what it really meant to me.

Anyway, I’ll post something more about the research and my learnings as soon as it’s really finished.

Bye for now…

Hello world!!!

Yes… this title suits me right now!

I used to have what some people may call a “proper web page”, designed and developed by me using all the required software and “expertise”. It’s very simple and looks alright, you can check it up here. The problem is that the gaps between the updates were becoming longer and longer…

After putting a couple of blogs together for some of my friends, I decided that it would be a lot easier to have one myself, than to keep insisting on the old web style. After all, I guess the whole world has already realised how much more practical blogs are ‘in real life’. So… here I am now.
